Minister: Russia Mechel to get govt backing under anti-crisis plan
MOSCOW, Jan 29 (PRIME) -- Russian metals giant Mechel will be put on the list of national systemic companies which are to receive state support under the government’s anti-crisis plan, Industry and Trade Minister Denis Manturov told reporters on Thursday.
“Yes, it will be included in systemic companies,” the minister said.
Measures to support the industry are only basic and there may be further decisions, Manturov also said.
“The proposed measures, which are foreseen in the government’s plan of anti-crisis measures, they are sufficient in the short term, as nobody can forecast all possible scenarios to the end,” he said.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered the government to provide support to systemic companies under the anti-crisis plan within two weeks.
The anti-crisis plan for 2015–2016 includes measures to stabilize economy, support import substitution, decrease costs for Russian business, encourage small and middle-sized businesses, concrete branches of economy, among which are agriculture, housing construction and utilities, industry, energy and transport.
